Jennifer Joseph - Physiotherapist Assistant/Personal Trainer

Jennifer Joseph

Jennifer started working at One Step Ahead Mobility in the summer of 2012. As a Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA), Jennifer works with clients who have a variety of needs and conditions ranging from neurological issues (including Parkinson's, MS, Ataxia and Stroke) to those looking for general physical conditioning and improved levels of fitness after illness or surgery. She also runs small group classes for clients who have completed the BIG program for Parkinson's.

Jennifer's career in fitness and training began almost 30 years ago after she graduated from U of T. Her initial training was the Ontario Fitness Council certification as a group fitness instructor. Several specialty certifications and training courses followed, including Older Adult Fitness Instructor (OFC), Breakthrough Osteoporosis Training (Osteoporosis Canada), Resist-A-Ball (Can-Fit-Pro), Step (Reebok), and Personal Training (ACE).

In addition to working with clients and groups of all ages in community centres, seniors’ residences and in private homes, Jennifer has participated in the T.I.M.E program, a partnership between the City of Toronto and Toronto Rehab, and helped to develop the Smart Start exercise program at the City of Toronto.

When Jennifer's father had a stroke, her primary area of interest shifted. She began to focus a great deal of her time and training to working with clients that have neurological issues, and she is inspired by her clients every day!

When she's not at work, Jennifer enjoys exercising, reading, completing Sudoku puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
